Behind Enemy Lines - An Evening with a Holocaust Survivor
Chabad Jewish Center of Petaluma welcomes Mrs. Marthe Cohn as a guest speaker on Tuesday, February 5, at 7 p.m. at Santa Rosa Junior College Petaluma.

Open to the entire community!

Ninety-eight-year-old Holocaust survivor Marthe Cohn became a member of the intelligence service of the French First Army and was able to retrieve inside information about Nazi troop movements by slipping behind enemy lines.

At age 80, Marthe was awarded France's highest military honor, the Medaille Militaire, joining the likes of Winston Churchill and other outstanding wartime heroes. The award officially acknowledged the heroic exploits of a beautiful young Jewish woman who faced death every day as she sought to help defeat the Nazi empire.

Men's Tefillin Club
Join us on the second Sunday of the summer months at 9:00am, to learn about Tefillin and how to wear them, and to recite a short prayer with them on. Then stay with us to schmooze over an informal, delicious, Kosher brunch. Bring along your burning questions about anything Jewish. Tefillin are small black leather cubes, or boxes, containing parchment scrolls inscribed with the sacred Jewish prayer, the "Shema". Tefillin are worn on the arm and head during morning prayers. Tefillin Club is a monthly opportunity, for Jewish men and boys over the age of Bar-Mitzvah, to learn about, acquaint themselves with, and gain an appreciation for, the rich and enriching Jewish practice - the Mitzvah - of donning Tefillin. It just takes a few minutes...you'll feel inspired for the rest of your week. No previous experience necessary. Tefillin are available if you don’t own a pair.
